Design weeks are traditions in big world and European metropolises now they are becoming tradition also in smaller cities and capitals of central and eastern European countries as Bratislava, Vilnius, Belgrade etc. We like it and we are happy for it that we can show our product and meet a lot of interesting people, see a lot of events participate in workshops, attend lectures and presentations. Companies in our countries starting to understand that design can help them to sell their products and that design is important part of strategy and image of company. If you want to be successful nowadays your products has to be outstanding, innovative and has to fulfill peoples needs. Lets see what designers from eastern Europe can offer to companies and to market.
The second Belgrade Design Week will be held May 7-12, 2007. Belgrade Design Week 2007 will again feature some of the greatest names in the world’s creative industry, architects, designers, branding and advertising experts. The list of guests and the entire programme will be presented to the domestic and foreign public on March 03, 2007.
The conference programme will be performed in the Sava Center, and the accompanying programme of Belgrade Design Week, known as “Belgrade² will take place at more than 50 locations in the city.

I have found interesting article at http://www.carbodydesign.com about Renault Twingo: design history . I remember when I was in Cracow in Poland for student exchange at Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie my professor told me this story.
One of the main inspirations of the original Twingo project appears to be the Beskid 106 prototype, developed by Polish FSM and its controlled research center BOSMAL as a replacement for the 126p produced at FSM’s plants under Fiat’s license.
The Beskid 106 was created by a design team led by engineer Wieslaw Wiatrak. Following the final blueprints (1981-1982), the first prototype was completed in 1983.
Its most original feature was the aerodynamic body with a monovolume shape. It was designed by Krzysztof Meissner, from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and underwent extensive wind-tunnel testing that resulted in a very low drag coefficient of 0.29.

Since last year, as one of the supporting events of fair-trade Mobitex, the Design Centre of Czech Republic is introducing designer news coming onto the Czech market. During these days, there will be 4 premiers – sofas, porcelain, textile and ‘sounded’ kitchens.
The exhibitions’ curator of the Design Centre Czech Republic, Dagmar Koudelkova says “we want to show interesting things, not only furniture, but also other areas; today, we are introducing an innovative sofa designed by a student Sarka Mecnerova the firm Polstrin, a producer of upholstered furniture from Hradec Kralove.” For all students of architecture and design, this could be a great start of their career and an opportunity to see how the project is being developed and finally produced. This unique sofa in a shape of an elephant will be soon on market not only in Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia and Hungary.
DESIGNSTORY 07 is a non-commercial project aimed at introduction and propagation of a progressive interior design. Its focus is on the creation of young designers, students and schools.
DESIGNSTORY 07 is one of the events supporting the International fair-trade MOBITEX, which takes part from 14-18th March 2007 in Brno. Schools, students and young designers will present their work at the selective exposition in fair pavilion A1.
The fourth year of the project DESIGNSTORY will focus on kitchens and offices of the future.
