In a project related to the Domestic Trend and Design exhibition, talents from the Eastern European region will be represented for the first time this year. You may already know the “Made in Hungary” project, as it has become familiar in the field due to its great success.
The latest project is entitled “m.e.d.” or Meeting of Eastern Design. It will make its debut alongside the known “madeinhungary” project at G ödör Klub, downtown. It is a new venue for the project series, bringing the creative results to the heart of the cit y. In a four-day design conference, talented designers from Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania will have the opportunity to introduce themselves in Hungary.
Time: March 6-9th

RMJM was appointed to design the new headquarters of one of the world’s largest companies – Russian gas giant Gazprom in December 2006. Their winning proposal is a 396 metre high twisting, glass needle which echoes the spires across the city of St Petersburg. RMJM beat off 5 other internationally-renowned architects for the commission to develop proposals for the tower in the historic heart of the city, close to the Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge and Smolny Cathedral. From 7th – 9th April 2008 the Universität der Künste Berlin (University of Arts Berlin) will be holding the first 3D Modelling Symposium for architects, industrial designers and engineers in co-operation with Visual-Dream. This 3-day event for professionals as well as students of the above-mentioned disciplines will take place in the premises of the UdK Berlin and include three modules: Lectures, Case Studies und Master Classes. Top-class national and international experts will demonstrate solutions for contemporary architecture and construction demands, as well as modern design via 3D-modelling. Enrolment has closed and once more the Marksman Design Award 2007-2008 has broken records: no fewer than 1,093 students have signed up for this year’s competition. That means that in 54 countries all over the world, students at 264 different colleges and design schools are developing designs for the perfect pen: stylish, practical and innovative.
