Mmcité 2009 novelties

Mmcité is changing. With more than 15 years on the market we are setting sail for immense changes in our history.
- More than twenty highly new product lines are in their prenatal stadium on computer screens of our design and development departments
- New visualization system containing our new logo is not only changing corporate design but also brings a revolutionary graphical system. Created by Petr Babák and his Laboratory.
- All employees are welcome in company’s new rapidly evolving street furniture centre in Bílovice. The vital inner communication is now reaching new levels. Visitors from all European countries will surely appreciate the auditorium above an old piggery.
- New subsidiaries on important markets – in Poland and in Spain.
- New exclusive representation – in Scandinavian countries, in Italy and for the first time beyond the ocean – in the USA.
mmcité is slowly but surely becoming a notable European creator and producer of street furniture and equipment. Our designs are more and more influencing anonymous users of public areas among the whole continent and even outside of Europe.
mmcité was the only Czech participant of this year’s “Designblok” with a direct representation in all countries of EU and in the USA. Hence becoming one of the most successful exporters of the Czech design.
The design earthquake in mmcité is bringing you this year’s heralds:
Soft but not fragile

Park bench “Miela” – designed by David Karasek and Radek Hegmon

Design has reached its goal – Refinement in unity and in detail. This charismatic bench profits from modelled anatomy of its sideboard castings enhanced by softly shaped upper lamella of the armrest. Carefully elaborated bench, a cultivated contour fluttering above the paving, and prime processing bring new standards in the field of street furniture. Creating a corresponding counterbalance in the most valuable historical localities as well as humanizing modern areas full of relentless architecture.
The sideboard is made from machined castings from aluminium alloy; the saddle and armrest of the lamella are from massive wood. An original facile and solidly-fixed footing is indent from the groundwork and pavement.
Square like a graden

Park bench “Preva Urbana” – designed by David Karasek and Radek Hegmon
Besides style also excellent ergonomics – such a comfortable bench you did not expect. This bench is characterized by a strip of delicate lamellas perched on a seemingly-light construction from sripped steel. It originates from classical garden furniture aesthetics and brings the garden feeling even to the public areas. And the bench is not afraid of them because it is surprisingly resistant and durable and thanks to elaborated ergonomics it is also remarkably comfortable. The steel frame variation shows interesting change in appearance and extends its variability of usage.
Galvanized steel suspension framework made of strip steel is painted in protecting varnish of a standard shade. The back and arm-rests create a joined strip of wooden lamellas or a frame from steel round-logs. Can be easily fixed to the groundwork.
Spokes

Bike shelter “Tyre” – designed by David Karasek and Radek Hegmon
Yet simple but still attractive shelter with the shape of sideboards inspired by the bicycle spokes. Arch roof from trapezoid sheet metal circumscribes a part of an imaginary giant bike and perfectly covers parked bikes.
Galvanized steel framework painted in a selected shade. The roof is made from trapezoid sheet metal. The stands have the option of locking the bikes.
Rubber on innovation duty
Bike-stand “Meandre” – designed by D.K and R.H
Double-sided stand of entirely new unique construction of a distinct and naturally elegant shape is unprecedentedly bike-friendly. Characteristic meander made from durable rubber-strip can softly clasp the front or back wheel of any size. The running-through tube helps to lock the bike.
Stainless or galvanized framework, covered by powdered varnish colour, can be easily fixed to concrete or pavement. Rubber strip is shaped into meander rabbets for bikes.
