designblok-2009-1

The Days of Design will take place from October 6-11. The participants will include the selection of the best showrooms and boutiques that focus on design, interior accessories, and fashion. The event will also incorporate presentations from fashion designers, design studios, designers, schools, and institutions. Thanks to an attendance that exceeded 30,000 visitors last year, Designblok has become one of the biggest social events in the city of Prague.

Designblok is organizing a rich accompanying program in collaboration with its partners, which are led by Česká spořitelna. The accompanying programme will take place in the traditional Superstudios. In regard to the spectrum of the accompanying program, there will be two Superstudios. Coincidentally, both of them will be located in Holešovice this year. Superstudio Classic 7 on Jankovcova street will host traditional exhibition projects of companies (entitled Crème de la Crème), designers, and school studios. Classic 7 is a newly reconstructed building made from former mills. The design was made by CMC Architects, who have enriched the original skeleton with a glass extension.

The second studio – Superstudio A7 – is situated a few steps from Classic 7. It also represents a conversion of an original industrial space made by CMC Architects – the building of Holešovický pivovar (Holešovice brewery). Thus, Designblok Superstudio returns after six years onto the premises where the historic first Designblok Superstudio took place. The loft spaces of the Pivovar building will host special projects and exhibition presentations.

Thus, the visitors will, as always, have the opportunity to explore new architectural implementations during Designblok.
Overall, the Designblok accompanying program will take up the largest space of all the exhibitions and presentations, exceeding 6,000 m2.
