Parallel Design Worlds?

This text will concern last two posts on DESIGNEAST. Recently I was browsing for some interesting news to post in here, I said to myself what about to check Moscow based Art Lebedev Studio maybe they will have something new. And they had, it was this Rozetkus 3D power socket. I said wow that is pretty nice idea and it is very well stylized and elaborated. Wow I love this development process images. It is always exciting to see it. Not just final product where you don’t see what is behind.

Then I said OK, lets put it on the blog and share it. Then I have loaded DESIGNEAST and I was surprised, what? what? is that? I saw same idea already on the blog. I said wow for second time or third?

Now it looks like that I don’t know what is happening on DE blog but as you may know we have contributor from Serbia, designer Denis Bostandzic and he just uploaded Letout Outlet project of designer Damjan Stankovic couple minutes before I loaded it into my browser.

What a coincidence can happen. I think this kind of things happens sometimes. Designers dream about the same idea in different parts of the world and sometime they meet, sometime they don’t.

   Hi Martin,

   As we spoke yesterday when this all happend. Those parallel worlds and tkinking about same idea on different sides of the world are relly interesting thing.
   This is the filing I have sensed few times in my own development of the products, and I know that`s same with other designers. At first you got the starting thrill of new concept and idea and than cold shower affter you find out that someone has already done that. This case wouldn`t be so strange if I posted this few days,weeks or months earlier, as this concept already gone trough the process of judging on Red Dot Award, and won it, it could be posted earlier, so maybe would be cancelled in Art Lebedev Studio. But it`s all about time in this case.

   The timing is just coincidence in this case.

   Or maybe there`s some big brain application that is sharing some subliminal messages with all us while we are surfing Internet?

   The only bad thing with this kind of coincidence is that someone could be damaged as a plagiator even if that wasn`t the case.

   Other very important thing and problem that all we have as a designers is that there`s no some coordinated world wide system, easy to use, that has a world wide base of design concepts, that could be checked easy. Something like web site that you could upload your idea and that`s it, you could claim rights on that idea. Easy and simple to use and browse. All systems for copyrighting ideas that we have now are slow, regionaly separated, and very complicated to use and register ideas.

   We are living in the era of new communications, where everything is happening in a speed of light. So we need tools for that new era.
