November 24th, 2009 by press

We have updated post – more images for each concept.

What will the cars of the future look like?

The half-year battle of young designers up to 35 years of age is at its end. The winner of the Allivision09 competition, which is focused on cars of the future, is twenty-year-old Slovakian designer Adam Danko and his Sandman concept. The competition was announced by Allivictus s.r.o. Czech Republic and AutoDesign&Styling, bilingual Czech-English magazine.

And with what concept did Adam Danko win? The Sandman is a type of transportation vehicle meant for young and active people, who like sport and need a cheap and practical car. Namely because it’s powered by a combination of human propulsion and an electro engine, which helps to pedal along.

The winning project best met all criteria of the competition. It’s about clean design, which is very sovereign in its expression,” declared about the winning project by Václav Capouch, designer of Škoda Auto, and one of the jury members of the Allivision09 competition. Among other jury members were professional designers such as chief designer of Blata moto, Stanislav Hanuš or Ivan Dlabač, president of the Czech professional designers union. Also famous Czech artists Aleš Najbrt, Tono Stano and David Ondříček took part.

Second place of the competition was given to twenty-four-year-old Michal Vlček from the Czech Republic and his Greenhouse project. The visionary concept is in the spirit of bionics. Young designers didn’t have to follow today’s technical restrictions and that’s why the author of this project works with the process of Photosynthesis, which most effectively transforms solar energy. Thanks to the plants inside the car, it should be an energy self-sufficient vehicle. The transparent body of the car allows for sufficient sunlight and at the same time creates the design of the car. The passengers sit above the plants on seats, which are made from transparent lamination and ergonomically shape according to the human body.

Third place was given to twenty-year-old Vít Bechynský from the Czech Republic and his notable Snap concept. The three-wheel vehicle offers an experience as on a motorbike. But it also offers a complex transport solution. For longer trips it’s possible thanks to the shape of each Snap, to connect together and transport collectively. During this it’s possible to stay in the privacy of your own car, or by opening the doors join a colleague of the next Snap.

The Autodesk special prize was awarded to thirty-year-old Michal Kracik from Poland for a car, which can be taken apart into two independent vehicles. In a connected state the car can hold up to six passengers and reaches a length of 4900 mm. When the car is split up into two individual vehicles, the result is a four-seat and two-seat automobile. The jury most appreciated its realistic concept, which is technically demanding, yet created in an understandable way.

The first year of the international Allivision09 design competition, with a subtitle ‘Ideas for a Better World’, had 650 registered designers. Ninety contest projects of designers from 37 countries from around the world tried to uncover the near future. The highest representation was from the Czech and Slovak Republik, where AutoDesign&Styling Magazine in cooperation with Allivictus Company have been supporting quality design for several years.

The Allivision09 competition was announced this spring by Allivictus s.r.o. Czech Republic along with AutoDesign&Styling Magazine. Young designers could send in their projects until 31 August. Among the main criteria the projects had to fulfil were simplicity, exceptionality, consumer modesty and of course aesthetic quality.
