Arctic mobile unit by 2-B-2 Architecture

1

The Global warming problem is actual throughout many years, but researchers of northern pole and the Arctic ices face set of problems. Transport problems, life-support problems in a polar climate, problems of communications etc. the There are two ways of problem decision: 1. Creation of constantly operating infrastructure on northern pole (but it’s very expensive and dangerous) 2. creation of independent working mobile units which are easily transported, more availible and safe. People can use this units in every point in polar climate for different goals.

Mobile unit accomodates life support for 3 people for 15 days and operates between -40 and +10C with winds up to 85 km/h.

Closed unit is easy transportable — it’s dimensions are very close to 3′ Dry Freight Container (popular marine container).

After the placing arctic mobile unit unpacks. Module parts are moved apart — volumes for a wc, a work/rest zone, galley and the power engine-generator blocks arises. End faces of put forward parts are allocated by horizontal notches — it helps for polar explorers to use the unit. The interior volume is close to inhabited — laconic white surfaces with the colour accents, the natural light, the built in transformed furniture, a separate wc – it’s necessary for mixed team (males and females).

  • Mobile unit equiped with solar battery, 5kW power generator, snow smelter.

  • Materials: steel (frame), carbon (panels) and polyethylen (thermo-insulating membranes)
  • Weight: 1500 kg
  • Dimensions: 2000х1600x2300mm
