Arenasiento (from Spanish arena=sand, siento=feel, asiento=seat) is a back rest digged-in the sand, that uses sand’s characteristic physical features. Sand functions as an integral part of the seat, product out of the beach looses its’ function.
Arenasiento maximizes contact with the natural environment of the beach, not interfering with beach’s typical landscape. Back rest is mobile, easy to carry and enables user to fit individually the angle of depression. The printed strip marks the line to which the board should buried in sand. Two versions of Arenasiento are proposed: one made out of glossed waterproof plywood and second one out of plastics (in the prototype hard PVC is used). The one made out of plastics has a handle to ease the carrying.
