The cultural organization Mikser – organizer of the largest regional festival of creativity “Mikser” – is pleased to announce a call for applications for the competition Young Balkan Designers 2011, the eagerly anticipated expansion of the highly successful Young Serbian Designers that launched many talented domestic young designers onto the world design scene.

The regional competition in the field of the industrial design opened on Monday, November 1, 2010 and it will close on December 20, 2010. The competition is open to applicants 35 years of age and younger from the former Yugoslav and its neighboring countries.

The top prize of the Mikser competition is an exhibition of the winners’ work at the Milan Furniture Fair 2011, within the scope of Salone Satellite – the largest international talent show — along with one year of intense promotional activities at the most prestigious regional and European exhibitions and salons such as, Mikser festival (Serbia), Dan D (Croatia), Sofia Design Week (Bulgaria), Weekend Media Festival (Croatia), Vienna Design Week (Austria), Month of Design (Slovenia), and others.

The Jury is presided over by the world renowned designer Konstantin Grcic (Germany), Jelena Matic (furniture designer and Docent at the University of Belgrade) and Maja Lalic (architect and Mikser Creative Director). The jury will announce its selection within 30 days after the competition is closed.

In addition to exhibiting both the Milan Furniture Fair and the Mikser Festival, previous Mikser winners have had the opportunity to place their work on the local and international markets.
