Anna Cicha is a newcomer at the Eastern European fashion scene but her collection called Number 00 is already a huge success that grabbed the attention of media not only in the Czech Republic but also in Poland and other European countries.  After graduating at Tomas Bata University in Zlin she started her own label ANNACC which is characteristic by its simple yet forward-looking pieces and crisp tailoring.  I asked her couple of questions to find out more about her background, design aesthetic and her plans for the future.

Tell us the story behind Number 00; what is the main theme of this collection?

Project No.00 is my debut collection which I have created right after graduation. That’s also why I named it Number 00; to introduce myself and say that I am only at the beginning of my design career.

This collection reflects my teenage years and times when I was looking for my own style and tried to express my ideas while being influenced by different subcultures. No.00 is a mixture of avant-garde style, punk and ethno fashion.

How would you describe your design aesthetic? What inspires you?

I seek inspiration in contemporary art, music and street-style.  My clothes are influenced by minimalism…I would describe it as ‘’playful avant-garde’’.

What colours and materials do you prefer to work with?

I often use natural materials and crochet in combination with the technique of textile printing. I put focus on the structure of the fabrication that I work with.

Black and grey are my favourite colours.

Who is your target customer?

My designs are suitable to anyone, doesn’t matter how old you are. Although I have to admit that at the moment I focus mostly on female customer, I plan to change this in the future and expand my line into menswear too.

Where can we buy your clothes? Are they available only in the Czech Republic or also in other European countries?

At the moment you can buy my designs mostly in the Czech Republic but through participation in Neo Fashion Jamboree Contest I have got interested in the Polish market. Maybe it is also because of my Polish background.

What’s next for you? What can we look forward to?

You can look forward to my new website which will be finished in January.
