MJ house – Slovenia

MJ house is a project accomplished by kombinat – a Slovenian based architectural practice. This contemporary single family home is situated close to the town of Novo mesto. It is a prefabricated house with a wooden frame construction and larch wood facade. So wood is used as the most important material and as such it excellently integrates with the surrounding natural landscape (see the picture gallery below).

Because of plot’s configuration and views as well, the house opens in the direction of northwest. With the slight split of levels it adapts to the landscape and consequently divides the living and sleeping areas.

Furthermore, there are no hallways in the house, you can come into the rooms from the shifted landing (a part of the living room). Due to the structure of the roof the morning sun brightens the entrance, bathroom and the living room.

Interestingly, the garage is separated from the house and is located next to the road. In order not to impede the view from the house to the valley the garage is dug into the slope.

If you want to see more examples of great architecture, check other kombinat’s projects.
