Studio presents Jakub Berdych’s newest collections and product during The Maison&Objet 2013 in Paris from September 6 until September 10. The collection called Fossils was already re-premiered at the beginning of summer as part of the Collector’s Preview at the Křehký Mikulov art design festival. Brand new collection called Schizzo and product Cupwood have being introduced these days in hall 7, stand C34.

Qubus Design Studio founded by Jakub Berdych in Prague in 2002, the studio functions as a multi-disciplinary base for experiments with traditional Czech materials such as porcelain and glass in connection with brilliant handcraft and the tradition of their workmanship in the Czech Republic. The same year opened generally first design shop in Prague.

Later on the studio extended its focus with interior and graphic design. Thus, its portfolio includes exclusive pieces made for galleries and collectors, assignments for transnational companies, and designer collections of porcelain and glass pieces that can be found all over the world under the brand of Qubus.

Since 2008, Qubus Design studio also runs a unique gallery shop DOX by QUBUS at the Center of contemporary art and design in Prague DOX. Qubus has regularly exhibited its works as a part of the project Czech Selection, which presents works from the Czech Republic at select design trade fairs all over the world. Qubus products often serve as official gifts from Czech national institutions and are presented by the world famous galleries (Moss gallery New York, MINT gallery London, SFMOMA San Francisko…). Qubus was also presented with a special installation at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

The brand of Qubus includes several icons of Czech design, exclusive collector solitary pieces, and limited collections of glass and porcelain. All products are handmade in small-lot production by prominent Czech manufacturers.

Qubus studio creates specific cocktails for its clients, mixtures of various forms implemented by means of old methods and modern technologies applied in new contexts. Over its eleven-year existence, the studio has created dozens of designs, products, and concepts that have won reputation both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
