DESIGNEAST.EU is looking for Interns from the Baltic states, who would represent their own region, attending on design events, markets, awards, exhibitions, writing articles on upcoming designers and new interior design solutions to the wider public, in English.

Requirements:

• fluent English
• good writing skills
• interest in design publishing
• fashion, product design or art history background (preferred) or interest

What can we offer? A great experience in our multinational team, gaining extended knowledge in contemporary Central and Eastern European design and fashion, good opportunity to improve English and writing skills. As DESIGNEAST.EU is a registered non-profit organization, we are also able to approve your internship in advance towards university or other educational institution that requires such paper.

Performance made of six designers fashion show is going to introduce their works and collections is also supposed to be a fashion photography exhibition opening. Photogaphy by Jan Grombirik and contemporary fashion designes by Miroslav Sabo, Daria Makeeva, Jindra Jansova, Karolina Jurikova, Jana Ljuptakova and alesbary will create a completed project together called VISION. What joins the authors? Common attitude to fashion design in creating visions to work with and the author of photography.

Project is supported with special guests who is an architect Eva Jiricna, Eva Eisler and Jana Knauerova. All of them, on a position of a model or an author are nameholders of the photographic collection together with young designers above.

The program starts at 19.00, fashion show at 20,00 at Leporelo+ 

From 29 January till 3 February 2012 will take place second workshop within the GLASS IS TOMORROW framework. Twenty glass professionals will gather in Novy Bor, Czech Republic. We can mention for example: Rony Plesl (CZ), Arik Levy (FR), Matteo Gonet (CH), Maxim Velčovský (CZ).  The first workshop took place in Nuutajärvi, Finland from 12 till 16 September. GLASS IS TOMORROW is a European network which aims at establishing a more fluid exchange of knowledge and competencies between glass and design professionals in the north, south, east and west of Europe.

Design duo Petar Zaharinov and Konstantin Achkov presented their new furniture concept and exhibition in Credo Bonum Gallery, Sofia. They came up with hole new idea of presenting furniture more as an art and sculpture, than as an interior facility. Authors motto: “Puzzles for living“ is replica of the famous quote of Le Corbusier  - “Machines for living in”. Their aim is to make furniture and industrial machines more personal, despite the post -industrial future. Petar Zacharinov - architect and Konstantin Achkov - sculptor, both representing two different professions, share the same idea of creativity and processing. Designers want to make people more connected with their equipment and more interested in a way of assembling furniture. Puzzles for living is brilliant concept, which will more or less influence human minds and their view on mass production.

A photogallery from the opening of the DESIGNEAST.EU OFFLINE  exhibition in Prague’s HUB. At the occassion of the opening of the new conference area in the HUB we presented our DESIGNEAST.EU OFFLINE exhibition. The fifth edition of the exhibition is bigger than ever and a large part of the works is also presented in real products apart from 24 large posters. We have built a special illuminated lightbox where all the products were showcased and the visitors could enjoy a closer look at some of the designs featured on the posters. The event was well received and we had a great time together with HUBs faithful intellectual crowd.

Once upon a time two girls, Anett Gálvölgyi and Anna Zsófi Kormos and two men, Ádám Baranyi and Márton Miovác have met. Their mind and souls worked well together therefore they have decided to form a fashion group. Dear reader, that’s how Hungarian label, the FOUR was born.

Their second collection for this season (2011-2012 fall/winter) is a bit Hitchcock like, elegant, dark and creepy, the silhouettes were inspired by the 1950s and 60s. The clothes are practical, serves great the urban women needs: a clutch that can be transformed into a huge bag with a single move, a skirt that can be worn as poncho, and yet, they are paired with classic pieces such as wide hats and spat on the shoes.

The dominant colour is black, but it’s completed with scarlet, gold, colours of a volcano, matched with turquoise. The cuts are bold, sometimes even origami-like, and show enough to play with the viewer’s fantasy, flirty,  but it is certainly not too much. The final selection for International Design Review 2010-2011 – has been done! The Cieszyn Castle held a meeting of the international jury. The best 40 graduation projects from universities around the central Europe has been selected, for publication in 2+3D magazine, and for accompanying exhibition in Cieszyn.

Second edition of the Core77 Design Awards is now open for entries! This year’s awards program features 17 categories including progressive areas (such as DIY and Educational Initiatives) and two brand new categories (Food Design and Writing & Commentary).

The official deadline for entries is April 10, 2012, entrants who register by March 13 will receive a 20% earlybird discount!

DESIGNEAST.EU presents the fourth edition of the DESIGNEAST OFFLINE.EU exhibition. This time we will showcase a selection of design from central and eastern Europe in the newly opened spaces of Prague’s HUB. The exhibition combines large format prints with real objects, that you can experience and try. The broad spectrum of 24 authors includes for example jewelry by Markéta Richterová or furniture set designed by Matej Chabera for LUGI.

The opening takes place on the 19th of January from 7pm at HUB Prague, Drtinova 8, and the exhibition runs till 20th February. The evening includes other events and will be a rich social and cultural experience. We are looking forward to see you.
