International Biennial of Interior Design in Krakow

The other event, named 2^nd International biennial of interior design, will be held from 8^th to 10^th March, 2012 at Bunkier Sztuki Gallery in Krakow. From the very early age, human kind wanted to create a place where it is pleasure to live. Beginning in Byzanc, simultaneously continuing to modern ages, men is trying to think up a new and better solution for living space, nowadays called interior design. The participants of the 2^nd International Biennial of Interior Design will seek answers to this question for the second time. The central theme of this year’s biennial is ‘City-Gardens of the Future’. The biennial is a periodic event held by Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Mayor of Krakow and the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.

VISION Project Designer – Miroslav Sabo

Miroslav Sabo originally comes from Slovakia. Since he finnished his studies at The University of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague he has been working as an assistent of proffessor of fashion design in the same university.

Miroslav Sabo attended ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres in Paris where he also worked as an Assistant Stylist for Peclers Paris, the trendforecasting studio during his studies. Later, he also worked at Bruno Pieters in Antwerp. He worked as a fashion redactor or an illustrator for INSPIRE magazine or stylist for MEN/WOMEN ONLY magazine recently. The newest project he´s been working on theese days are costume designs for Elektra opera in National Theatre Brno or Pelleas and Mellisande opera for National Theatre Prague.

Collection called The New (Wo)Man got a final nomination in a national competition Top Styl Designer of 2011.
The same project and samples of new once are a part of the instalation of the VISION exhibition in Brno.

Nový Tovar 2011 in Bratislava, Slovakia is the exhibition of the winners of Czech National Award for Student Design 2011. Exhibition is open form 15.2.2012 till 15.3.2012 in the showroom of Kabinet company, Mlynské Nivy 34, Bratislava. Opening hours dayily 10am – 6pm except weekends.

There’s a lot going on in Poland lately. Local design experts and professionals are working hard to elevate Polish design and fashion to international level. Ewa Trzcionka, editor-in-chief of Designalive.pl, who will give a lecture titled “Polish Design. What is it like?”

President of the Association of Graphic Designers, Dawid Korzewka with a lecture on trends in graphic design

Olga Nieścier – fashion designer and Programme Director at Polish – Italian Design & Management School VIAMODA, who will talk about trends in fashion.

During About Design will be presented “3P – Pomeranian Project Potenital” – exhibition prepared for the opening of Design Center in Gdynia, as well as exhibition of projects created by students from Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk titled “Considered – designed – realized” and Gdynia Design Days Gallery.

In a specially arranged space (Cinema DOMO+) will be presented films produced by television DOMO +: “Poużywajmy sobie. Historia polskiego wzornictwa” (“Let’s indulge. History of polish design”) and “Dizajnerki ” (“Female designers”).

International Design Review 2010-2011 – final selection

The final selection for International Design Review 2010-2011 – has been done! The Cieszyn Castle held a meeting of the international jury. The best 40 graduation projects from universities around the central Europe has been selected, for publication in 2+3D magazine, and for accompanying exhibition in Cieszyn.

Magdaléna Vojteková is Winner of Young Contract Creations Award Upholstery

Czech Design is winning at the Heimtextil fair again. Magdaléna Vojteková is the winner of student contest „Young Contract Creations Award 2012: Upholstery“. This year 5th edition of the contest had a motto „relaxation“ students has to design design multi-functional upholstery furniture intented for relaxation in residential but also public spaces.

Among the 60 entries from 13 Universities around the Europe the expert jury has choosen as the best, work of Magdaléna Vojteková „Relax and Swing“. Last year winner was Václav Mlynář also from the Czech Republic.

Lumen by Magdaléna Čurdová and Tereza Matyášková – Czech Republic

Design of switches “Lumen” by Magdaléna Čurdová and Tereza Matyáškováby is a reaction to a missing product for specified target group of consumers. It features three separate segments: mount, switch cover, switch which allow for wide scale customization (colors, material and price varieties). Designed for specified technological system of the ABB company. Designers has received the Outstanding Student Design Award for this project.

Futuristic Jewelry by Kateřina Reichová – Czech Republic

Jewelry for the future was the main theme of the project of Kateřina Reichová. Inspirational sources of design were author’s favorite sources like sci-fi, cyberpunk and futurism. Material for jewelry is silver for its good properties in shaping and exclusive look. Kateřina has received Good Student Design Award.
