Křehký Mikulov – art design festival – Czech Republic

Křehký gallery is organizing extraordinary exhibiton of art design. Connecting various galleries from European countries (Czech republic, Austria, Belgium, Germany and France), Křehký will exhibit a wide range of objects in castle Mikulov. As the result of cooperating about eight galleries, you can see the very last works of Qubus, studio Piršč, Vessel Gallery, or new gallery Art Design Project. The Křehký Mikulov festival is open from 1^st June to 3^rd June 2012 in Czech town Mikulov, well known for vineyards and fine quality wine.

QUBUS IN BRNO – Czech Republic

Leporelo+ and a studio Qubus Design Studio is going to open an exhibition called QUBUS IN BRNO which is going to take place in an interior of Leporelo+ designshop untill June of 2012. The exhibition opening has been set on the day of first anniversary of the whole concepet (made of café, restaurant and a designstore) in Brno House of Arts April 27.

Qubus Design Studio was based in 2002 by designers Jakub Berdych and Maxim Velčovský following the idea of untypical place that offers Czech and conceptual design to customers and produces designs under its label. Qubus Design Studio has produced amounts of collections and products with its typical signature. The label has been creating also interior, architecture and graphic designs too. In cooperation with gallery of contemporery art DOX Qubus Design Studio established and opened its gallery store with complete choice of Czech design reprezentation in 2008.

Leporelo+ has been oney year old private concept opened in The Brno House of Arts at the end of 2010 by an investor Petr Klimus. It´s been running on two floors of the building. Café and design+bookshop in a gallery and fresh restaurant with a garden sitting in the basement. The Design+Bookshop sells the reprezentative and the most popular sample of Czech and foreign design product and Café has been an organizer of amounts of design and cultural events, meetings and exhibitions there.

Stack easy chair – Croatia

Skrivo design ,founded by Croatian industrial designer Stefan Krivokapic in 2011, have recently release a new product Stack easy chair. Company specializes in industrial design across furniture and lighting sectors working with manufacturers in Italy and Europe. Their very last chair and footstool comes from the idea of having cushions in constant motion that look like they have been stacked randomly on top of each other. Placing multicoloured cushions on a steel structure of chair creates the perception of depth and evokes in people an unusual playfulness. Two tubular steel rods add additional aesthetic detail as well as structural support for the birch wood legs. The Stack easy chair will be on exhibition along with other projects by Skrivo Design during the Salone del Mobile – Milan design week at the “Tutto Bene” space in Via Tortona 31.

Easter Bunny brought cold and even snow together with its eggs throughout Europe. Not a nice action, you’ll be punished for this, Bunny…soon! Anyway, one of Russia’s most innovative design brand, the Art Lebedev Studio has made this Thermosaurus, a heater formed as a dinosaur. This friendly Tyrannosaurus is highly efficient and energy-savvy, thanks to its complex structure that includes a skull, spine, ribs, legs, and tail bones. Made of cast iron, Thermosaurus installs like your regular central-heating radiator.

There’s a lot going on in Poland lately. Local design experts and professionals are working hard to elevate Polish design and fashion to international level. During About Design will be presented “3P – Pomeranian Project Potenital” – exhibition prepared for the opening of Design Center in Gdynia, as well as exhibition of projects created by students from Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk titled “Considered – designed – realized” and Gdynia Design Days Gallery.

In a specially arranged space (Cinema DOMO+) will be presented films produced by television DOMO +: “Poużywajmy sobie. Historia polskiego wzornictwa” (“Let’s indulge. History of polish design”) and “Dizajnerki ” (“Female designers”).

Mejd Studio – Slovakia

MEJD is the newly founded studio devoted to product design, founded by Štefan Nosko and Katarína Beličková, currently operating in Bratislava, Slovakia. Their creation is a search for new solutions and insights into product design, creating objects, which in addition to functional and aesthetic sites offer some kind of added value in terms of ideas, stories and links to other fields of social life and lives of people in general. The main aim of the authors is to create objects of ordinary life, inspired by this ordinaries but to achieve extraordinary results.

From February 14th to April 15th you can see products exhibited among Ligne Roset furnishings at Bratislava´s showroom at Apollo Business Center II, Prievozská 4, 821 09, Bratislava.

RED Pif Wine Restaurant by Aulík Fišer Architekti – Czech Republic

Studio Aulík Fišer Architekti, co-owned by two Czech architects Jan Aulík and Jakub Fišer, designed unique interior of Prague restaurant and wine shop RED Pif. Restaurant recognizes traditional values of wine industry and gives you a chance to enjoy every glass of wine you order.

Historical materials are represented by oak wood on the floor and bar counter, rebars (used in vineyards as poles supporting vine) for bottle shelves and Czech chairs traditionally made from bent wood. Other interesting feature is that every visitor can change the ambience of RED Pif restaurant. All thanks to Aulík Fišer Architekti, company which designed special revolving screens resembling the means of storing wine bottles in boxes for evening wine tasting or private events. They allow the shop windows to be closed completely. A visitor then finds himself in a sort of a wine cellar, separated from the reality of the surrounding city.

Russian studio Art. Lebedev came up with fresh idea of new piggy bank. Copilcus will make all your savings positive, which is a nice change in your money plan. Coins are being inserted through “plus” symbol, unlike in a traditional piggy bank. As Art. Lebedev studio says: Do not waste time on negative savings, go with a positive “plus” plan!

Puzzles for Living by Petar Zaharinov and Konstantin Achkov – Bulgaria

Design duo Petar Zaharinov and Konstantin Achkov presented their new furniture concept and exhibition in Credo Bonum Gallery, Sofia. They came up with hole new idea of presenting furniture more as an art and sculpture, than as an interior facility. Authors motto: “Puzzles for living“ is replica of the famous quote of Le Corbusier - “Machines for living in”. Their aim is to make furniture and industrial machines more personal, despite the post -industrial future. Petar Zacharinov - architect and Konstantin Achkov - sculptor, both representing two different professions, share the same idea of creativity and processing. Designers want to make people more connected with their equipment and more interested in a way of assembling furniture. Puzzles for living is brilliant concept, which will more or less influence human minds and their view on mass production.

Mistral Café by Studio Muon – Czech Republic

Mistral Café is situated in the historical centre of Prague, in Josefov in the Old Town. The aim of restaurant is to characterise and represent this area, as well as to offer the unique space for wide range of people walking around. In the epicenter of education and arts, Mistral Café is often a choice of very interesting personalities.

Designed by czech studio Muon, leaded by Jiří Zhoř, Mistral Café interior is simple, comfortable and very efficient. Small flower-pots with herbs support the fine atmosphere of sitting in a garden behind an old house wall. Jiří Zhoř has used different materials, however two of them seem to be very dominant. Every piece of furniture is made of bleached birch plywood with smooth texture and the second material is rough concrete, appearing on old walls and as the dark skim on the floor.

Muon architecture – space between the sound: “Muon is silence, concentration and tension in space. Concentration is about searching for essence, tension is about creation. Design is about connecting them both. Architecture is about values that can be realized by this connection.“ this philosophical quotation perfectly matches with the main idea of Mistral Café, a place where you can not only sit and eat, but feel the special atmosphere.
