Design duo Petar Zaharinov and Konstantin Achkov presented their new furniture concept and exhibition in Credo Bonum Gallery, Sofia. They came up with hole new idea of presenting furniture more as an art and sculpture, than as an interior facility. Authors motto: “Puzzles for living“ is replica of the famous quote of Le Corbusier  - “Machines for living in”. Their aim is to make furniture and industrial machines more personal, despite the post -industrial future. Petar Zacharinov - architect and Konstantin Achkov - sculptor, both representing two different professions, share the same idea of creativity and processing. Designers want to make people more connected with their equipment and more interested in a way of assembling furniture. Puzzles for living is brilliant concept, which will more or less influence human minds and their view on mass production.

ISKOS — BERLIN has designed the sofa collection SNOOPY for Versus. Studio is led by Boris Berlin and Aleksej Iskos. ISKOS — BERLIN has been established in Copenhagen in 2010 but already has some notable cooperations in the portfolio.

Boris Berlin was Born in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia 1953 and moved to Denmark 1983, Aleksej Iskos was born in 1965 in Kharkov, Ukraine and moved to 1991. Both designers hase broad experience in various fields of design industry, they have worked together in Komplot Design studio which Boris co-founded, Aleksej was a assistant for many years.

Boris Berlin

• Industrial and Graphic Designer MDD, born in St. Petersburg (Leningrad) 1953, graduate of the Institute of Applied Arts and Design, St. Petersburg 1975.
• Employed by VNIITE, Leningrad in 1976 and worked freelance, designing a wide range of industrial products and graphics.
• Since 1983, BORIS BERLIN DESIGN in Denmark. 1985-87 Working for Penta Design, computerized work station for Danish Post and Telegraph.
• Since 1987 co-founder and partner of KOMPLOT Design.
• As part of KOMPLOT Design Boris Berlin received numerous Design Awards and distinctions and is represented in several Design Museums around the World.
• Since 2010 co-founder and partner of ISKOS-BERLIN Design.

Aleksej Iskos

• Born in 1965 in Kharkov, Ukraine.
• Studied architecture at Kharkov’s Institute of Civil Engineering and later theory of education at the State Institute of Pedagogic.
• Moved to Denmark in 1991.
• Graduated from Institute of Industrial Design at Denmark’s Designskole in 1996.
• From 1999 to 2010 employed at Komplot Design, Copenhagen.
• Various works are included in collections of The Designmuseum Danmark, The State Art Council collection and Icelandic Museum of Design.
• Since 2010 co-founder and partner of ISKOS-BERLIN Design.

Czech Design is winning at the Heimtextil fair again. Magdaléna Vojteková is the winner of student contest „Young Contract Creations Award 2012: Upholstery“. This year 5th edition of the contest had a motto „relaxation“ students has to design design multi-functional upholstery furniture intented for relaxation in residential but also public spaces.

Among the 60 entries from 13 Universities around the Europe the expert jury has choosen as the best, work of Magdaléna Vojteková „Relax and Swing“. Last year winner was Václav Mlynář also from the Czech Republic.

Czech Selection is joint exhibition representing selection of propduction of Czech companies which are working in are of furniture manufacturing, lights and glass. Exhibited producers are using regional craft and industrial know-how and collaboration with talented and progressive designers of all generations. From companies which will take a part we can name few: for example Qubus Design Studio, MM interier, Monsterra, Belda Factory, Bomma and others..

Exhibition will be located at Paris fairground Nord Villepinte from 20th till 24th of January 2012.

Exhibition The Incredible Lightness of Being: Jiří Pelcl – Czech Design will take place 7th Jan 2012 – 20th Feb 2012 at University of Brighton Gallery. The exhibition is a British premiere of the recent work of ­­­­­­­­­­­Jiří Pelcl, famous Czech designer. On January 20th will be also held one-day symposium by the designer. If you are looking for an interesting piece of furniture, designduo ALLT revealed a new concept of simple chair and cabinet. They used spruced wood in a way it is normally stacked to avoid degradation and allow better manipulation. These random profiles and airiness which can be found in industrial context offers you a closer connection with raw material and wood structure. Every object is created by cutting out spaces and its function is transformed by adding or removing stacked material.

Young Slovak designer Veronika Paluchova takes inspiration from natural materials. She works mainly with wood. Veronika combines wood with simple shapes and lines. Objects are functional and sometimes very comical. Veronika Paluchova is graduating in AFAD Bratislava in department of Product Design.

Wormhole is concept of foldable seats for public places from Igor Lobanov which was awarded by the Red Dot Design Award: design concept 2011. It consists of two identical framed elements of fabric that can be fixed into a single-volume seat using zips very easily. Also it takes up little space when disassembled and stored that makes it perfect for big public events. 

Pony Girl Rocker by Slovak designer Peter Jakubik is a toy for adults shaped as a woman attached onto the rockers similar to those of a rocking chair. The rocker ironically carries a memory of boys’ games on knights, riders, conquerors or warriors and pushes it into the field of adult fantasies.

It could be a great wedding gift for a newly married couples who can make a use of it as a relaxation simulator to prevent the partnership malfunction. In the context of BDSM practices it can be used as a trainer for pony play sessions. In need of humiliation, unless your wife or girlfriend do not like a pony play, just use this toy. Pony Girl Rocker as a forgotten and again found toy as an object for adults. The rocker is hand-made of plywood with wax finish. Old wooden surface is supposed to remind of forgotten old child’s toy found in the attic and upgraded to a fetish design object.
