The work of the Czech design studio Whitefruits is based on research and development of design and production techniques in porcelain that go beyond the limitations of industrial production. This dose is the queen of the kitchen. It features a high-tech silicone lock mechanism while its classic porcelain make a nostalgic link to the work of Josiah Wedgewood.

Czech company Brokis have introduced new lighting product called MEMORY. Designed by Boris Klimek and with recognisable influence of childhood, MEMORY lightings are great to look and fun to use. New Brokis product resembles to balloons, however turning it on and off with hanging cords will make your room even better and happier place. Three sizes and a range of colours in the interior gives free passage of play, imagination and create different lighting.

Russian studio Art. Lebedev came up with fresh idea of new piggy bank. Copilcus will make all your savings positive, which is a nice change in your money plan. Coins are being inserted through “plus” symbol, unlike in a traditional piggy bank. As Art. Lebedev studio says: Do not waste time on negative savings, go with a positive “plus” plan!

From 29 January till 3 February 2012 will take place second workshop within the GLASS IS TOMORROW framework. Twenty glass professionals will gather in Novy Bor, Czech Republic. We can mention for example: Rony Plesl (CZ), Arik Levy (FR), Matteo Gonet (CH), Maxim Velčovský (CZ).  The first workshop took place in Nuutajärvi, Finland from 12 till 16 September. GLASS IS TOMORROW is a European network which aims at establishing a more fluid exchange of knowledge and competencies between glass and design professionals in the north, south, east and west of Europe.

“Forest stories” is a project by Czech designer Michaela Tomíšková, it is a collection of footprints of forest atmosphere made for Vyrobeno Lesem brand.

Czech Selection is joint exhibition representing selection of propduction of Czech companies which are working in are of furniture manufacturing, lights and glass. Exhibited producers are using regional craft and industrial know-how and collaboration with talented and progressive designers of all generations. From companies which will take a part we can name few: for example Qubus Design Studio, MM interier, Monsterra, Belda Factory, Bomma and others..

Exhibition will be located at Paris fairground Nord Villepinte from 20th till 24th of January 2012.

Czech National Award for Student Design 2011 has also winners in Excellent Student Design category, one of them is Greenhouse by Kristýna Pojerová. Greenhouse is an interior light and its main sense is access to fresh herbs in urban kitchen. Herbs are planted around the main inner shape which allow for easy access to them. Shape of the greenhouse allow aslo to circulation of the air and helps to make special micro climate.

Design Christmas Market is a platform for the sale of works of established artists of the younger generation. Exhibition is placed at alternative gallery space HotDock (Laurinská 7, Bratislava), concentrates the artwork to the environment running Christmas markets, which can be purchased on site. Thus creating a form of “consuming mechanism” – I have to buy it, it becomes a boutiques. The aim of this action is to support sales and promote young art to a wider audience, to expand cultural awareness, which is normally with such artistic quality, does not come into contact with things.
